Urban planning and architectural aspects

From the square-like junction of Feldgasse with Hauptstraße, the inconspicuous entrance to the Alland secondary school leads past the municipal office on the left. With the widening of the path space, one gradually approaches the object to finally arrive at a generously laid out school forecourt. The forecourt is also the end point of further access possibilities from the village. This school forecourt is the arrival and meeting space for the arriving students, as well as a place of communication after the end of classes in the transition to the rest of everyday life. Accordingly, weather-protected zones for waiting and parking bicycles are provided here. Seating islands with large trees are to guarantee the quality of stay.

The clear structure of the new building is immediately apparent from the forecourt: an upper floor resting on a few solid bodies with a transparent ground floor zone acts as a filter between the public forecourt of the school and the school's internal open areas.

Standing in front of this building, one looks through the openly designed areas immediately after entering the building. Here are the functions for the community, those areas that are intended to promote communication between the school, parents, guests, but also the residents and accordingly have an opening to the square. First of all, there is the school kitchen as a demarcated zone, next to the entrance immediately the library opening to the inside, the foyer with the flexibly switchable room sequences of dining room and group rooms for afternoon classes arranged towards the garden. The multipurpose room is significantly positioned to emphasize its external effect as a place of events

and at the same time to create a flow of movement towards the entrance. Similarly, its geometry creates the situation for a side entrance to the west of it as an extra access for the external use of the sports hall, as well as the separate access possibility for the teaching and administrative staff. An arena-like staircase rises from the foyer floor, which subsequently generates towards the main access. The arena can also function as an ascending auditorium for the multipurpose hall when its rear wall is open, thus adding additional seating. Behind the development island, a glass wall provides a direct view into the sports hall and allows a sweeping view into the garden courtyard.

The upper floor now contains the required program of classes and special instruction rooms. These are laid out as an angular span to the north and west, organized in a wing shape as a respective class cluster with four classes and a group room. The special classrooms are located between the two class wings, so that good accessibility from both clusters is ensured. The ancillary functions of these rooms are integrated into the respective units. The access rooms widen towards the south and east to form so-called multifunctional zones. Additional group rooms are located here and form transitional areas to the so-called free classes with their terraces in front.

The primary goal of the object figure is to preserve as much open space as possible and thus reduce soil sealing. All rainwater shall also be brought to infiltration on own ground. The sponge city concept is to be followed for the paved areas.
