During his reign from 1790 to 1794, Prince Anton Esterházy built the princely stables and main guardhouse opposite the palace in the classical style.
The eastern wing of the listed building was converted into the headquarters of Esterházy Betriebe GmbH in 2004.

Unconventional room concept

We connected the heritage conservation and functional constraints on the roof using a line. We “cut” the roof along this line, “folded” the roof surfaces apart, and glazed the resulting slits. By opening up the roof surface, we achieved improved lighting, more space, and thus more usable floor area.

In addition to the sanitary and supply boxes installed in the same way as on the existing floors, almost all of the building services are located in the parapet. This is where the roof drainage system, the entire electrical and data supply, and the fan coil units are installed.

Despite, or perhaps precisely because of, the historically and architecturally challenging location, a forward-looking approach to the building fabric was required in order to send a clear signal of modernity and transparency, both in terms of the external appearance and the internal working atmosphere.
